Happy 4 months, Abigail!

Today is Abigail's 4 month Birthday! Hip, Hip, Hooray!!!! We made it to 4 months without completely failing her as parents. So far, so good! Let's do a review of where Abigail is at. I think I'll do this every month from now on to track her progress:
  • Abigail is enjoying tummy time more, especially at PEPS where she can check out other babies. She's very social & loves to be around other babies. She can hold her head up & keep herself up by her arms for about a half hour.

  • Abigail is taking about 8 feedings/day. This is a bit high for a baby her age, so we're going to discuss with the pediatrician at her 4 month check-up tomorrow.
  • Abigail still wakes up twice per night for the most part. She goes to bed in her crib, then comes back in mom & dad's room when she wakes up (typically around 12:30am) and sleeps in her cradle by mom after that. She also takes naps in her crib.
  • Abigail LOVES standing! It's her most favorite thing EVER! She's always got a smile on her face when she's standing.
  • We'll find out how much she weighs tomorrow, but we know she is over 13 pounds, which is almost double her birth weight of 7lb 4oz :)
  • Abby found her feet & now she LOVES to hold them all the time! She's like a little monkey - always grabbing her feet & pulling her socks off.

  • She's also able to grab objects of all different shapes & sizes. She will grab her toy "Milk Dud" which is round, like a softball, she loves to hold & chew on Sophie the Giraffe, and she can hold a mylar balloon even though it's twice her size!
  • Abigail has been exploring different textures & started to pet the kitties. Nobody's really sure if this is a good or bad thing yet, especially Zeus. He did let her pet his tummy this morning, and usually he doesn't put up with that from ANYONE! Way to be a good kitty, Zeus!
  • We think Abigail may be teething. She soaks through about 5 bibs-a-day at daycare, and mom thinks she felt a little bump on her lower gums. She also puts everything she can find in her mouth - blankets, pacifiers, teethers, hands, daddy's nose...she does not discriminate!
  • Abigail is getting really good at playing in her Jumperoo. She has figured out how to spin the rattle so it makes noise. Mom thinks this makes her a baby genius!
  • Abby makes baby talk - her favorite thing these days is making "raspberries" and saying "Bah!" or "Booh!"
Abigail, we are so deeply in love with you! I miss you constantly while I'm at work & you are at daycare. I'm so proud of you & all the progress & learning you have accomplished so far! You're my favorite tiny human in the world & I get teary-eyed just thinking of you. I love you more than you'll ever know. Thank you for being such an amazing baby - I can't wait to see what life has in store for you <3
