Summer has (finally) arrived!

What a busy week! My Aunt Debbie came to visit us for several days. It was great to see her & we feel so special that Debbie would take time out of her busy life & make such a long trip up to see us. I'm sure it is mostly thanks to Miss Abigail, but we were so glad to visit with Debbie, regardless of her motivations.

Debbie arrived on Friday, then Saturday was Brandon's family reunion - lots of old ladies kissing Abigial & putting her fingers in their mouths - I was cringing, but tried my best to be laid back. There were also about 5 pitbulls & other dogs running around inside & outside the house. The dogs were fine, just put me on "mama bear" mode. It was great to see all of B's family, especially his dad, since he's been out of the country since Abigail was 1 month old. She sure does look like her daddy's side of the family.

Sunday was the 4th of July & we went to a friend's annual BBQ. It was a great time & we all laughed about how much this get together has changed just in the past 2 years. Most of us have kids now, there is a kiddy section & very child-friendly. Half of us were nursing our babies, or feeding them puffs, we had to be careful not to get the pacifiers mixed up, drinking wine instead of jello shots. sigh...we're old!

Debbie was a good sport & came with us to the family reunion and the BBQ & fit right in with everyone! Abigail loves her some Aunt Debs!

Abigail had a complete meltdown on the way home from the BBQ on the 4th. It was pretty traumatic for all involved & I'm going to leave it at that. We finally got home & I was able to get her calmed down after 40 minutes of non stop crying. Poor baby! After that, she was fine. And surprisingly, she slept great despite the fireworks. She's had a couple meltdowns since then. I think it's a mix of too much going on, interruptions in her schedule, and teething. I can see BOTH her top front teeth coming thru - at the same time. Poor bug.

Aunt Debbie left Wednesday morning & it was sad to see her go. She left just in time! Summer arrived Wednesday with temps in the 80's & then yesterday the high was 92. Wouldn't be a big deal if we didn't live in the Seattle area where nobody has air conditioning. Luckily, we thought ahead & purchased a portable a/c unit back in May - the kind that cools 1 room. Brandon set it up Wednesday evening & when Abigial was having a tough time sleeping due to her room being so warm, we moved the pack 'n play to our room & all bunked in there for the night.

Since the high was in the 90's yesterday, Abigail got to play nakey! She LOVES being nakey! We played for a little bit on the back deck, listening to classic rock & giving mom about 5 minutes to tan. Then we went inside so she could play on the floor & work on crawling - she is getting better at her mobility every day. She's able to kind of do this inch worm scoot thing now & get where she wants. It's what I would call a 'lazy man's crawl.'

Mom let me be nakey for once! this is awesome!
Yay! I love playing my drum!

She's been awfully fussy off & on all week, she's teething, so I'm trying very hard not to be an overly paranoid mom & take her to the doctor. It's hard for me not to. She's had a low fever and is just overly fussy and tired and generally doesn't feel very good. She's also EXREMELY clingy with me. We're hoping these teeth come thru very soon and things start to improve from there.

Now I'm exhausted. Too bad it's too hot in my room, so I hang out on the couch until mom & dad are ready to take me to their room.

  2. That last picture of her sleeping on the couch is just about the cutest picture I've ever seen.
