Anyway, Friday night we had our normal evening with Abby. Then, she went to bed and Brandon headed out to a birthday party - which meant I had a quiet house completely to myself!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!! I got to eat a vegetarian dinner - which is a luxury when you live with Brandon "Jethro" Conyers. And I watched trash TV and a silly Sarah Jessica Parker movie. It was lovely!
Saturday, I cleaned the house in the morning, then when Abby went down for her nap, I went tanning. I moved her into the car while she was still napping and headed out for a play date with 2 girlfriends and their kiddos. When I arrived for the playdate, one of the babies was throwing up, so they had to go home. But Abby & Ella still wanted to hang out, so we went forward with our plans. Abby ate pizza at this super healthy organic grocery store - I'm sure I was getting side eyes from all the "good" moms around there. Then we headed to the park on the beach. Abby LOVED...I mean LOVED the slide!
She's getting so big! I can't get over that she looks so much like a toddler now, and no longer a baby. After playing on the park area, Ella decided she would rather go to the beach. So we walked over to the water. Abby didn't really grasp the concept of throwing the rocks into the water, she would rather eat them! So that was a bit of a struggle. But it was a lot of fun to watch her interract with the Puget Sound! Such a Seattle baby! Playing on the beach in January!! She LOVED the water! She ran right in!! I had to stop her before she got completely soaked! As it was, she got her shoes & jeans wet. She didn't seem to mind how cold the water was one bit though. And when a wave crashed in, she ran toward it laughing, instead of away from it. I guess I"m glad she's not scared of the ocean/sound...but it kinda freaked me out. After playing on the beach for a while us moms were worn out, so we headed home. Abby was such a big girl & walked by herself all the way back to the car. She was too fast, so I couldn't get a picture that wasn't blurry, but it was so cute! She is such a big girl now!

I took Abby's wet shoes, socks & pants off and she thought it was pretty much the greatest thing ever to be pantsless in the carseat, so I didn't even put new dry pants on her. That's the luxury of being a baby...errr..toddler, you get to go pantsless in public. On the way home from our playdate, I purchased Abby a McDonald's happy meal. Seriously...not my proudest mom day - letting her have pizza AND McDonalds! But...she was kinda crabby and it was snack time, and frankly I couldn't think of a better way to wrap up a playdate on a cold beach than with a warm happy meal. Of course Abby ate all the fries & zero of her burger. We went home & hung out with daddy for the rest of the day. Grandma Candi came over and brought us dinner. Abby LOVES her Grandma! She doesn't see her very often and it was cute to see that she remembers her and really likes her! She had a grin planted on her face the entire time and kept showing off everything she could do for Grandma!
Abby's started doing this thing in her highchair, where she eats 2 bites & then throws her hands up & says "All Done!" When really, she's not done, she just wants to sit in my lap at the table & eat. And if I ignore her & leave her in the highchair? She grabs the tray, pushes on it as hard as she can & throws a fit! I don't know if this is just a phase, or if I should get her a booster seat so she can eat at the table with us? Anyway - it's completely annoying! I have to eat even faster now!
Anyway, Grandma went home, Abby went to bed and momma went out for girl's night! Yay!!! I had so much fun with my 3 girlfriends. We all have young kiddos, so it was nice for us all to get a night away and yet still be able to talk about the kids. We stayed at the restaurant for 4 hours talking and we weren't even ready to leave, but we basically got kicked out because they were closing at midnight. Anyway, it was quite the fun evening!
Sunday, Brandon got up with Abby so that I could sleep in! Then, at 8:30 he came upstairs with a Starbucks latte and I got up. Nice of him to buy me coffee, but I probably could have slept in longer. Oh well! Abby and I went shopping, then after her nap we went out for a jog! I haven't used my jogging stroller in a long time. It was kind of cold out - I only needed a sweatshirt, but being the overprotective mother that I am, I put Abigail in about 5 layers of warmth! She had pj's, regular pants, a 1-piece fleece outfit, a puffy winter coat and a winter hat on...and let's not forget her very own running shoes! HAHA!
She wasn't very happy to have all those layers on, and then to be buckled into a 5-point harness. But...as soon as I started jogging she was completely silent. We went about 3 miles. It's so much harder to run without using your arms! I had forgotten about that. Abby pretty much played with her feet on the bar of the stroller while I thought I was going to die - running up a giant hill for the very end of my run. But we both survived & she stayed warm.
I kind of felt bad about sticking her in the jogging stroller for so long, in the cold, with all the layers, so when we got back, I took 1 layer off, grabbed Brandon & we walked over to the neighborhood park. By walk, I mean all 3 of us walked! That's the first walk we've gone on with Abby. She held each of our hands & it was the cutest thing! Brandon let go of her hand at one point & she squacked & reached back for him.
After playing at the park for a few minutes, we went home and Abby and I went to the grocery store.
When we got home, it was a nice surprise to have "unnle" David there. Abby loves him as well, and was showing off her dance moves!
It was a really great family weekend for us - as well as some much needed and appreciated free time for Brandon & I.
