16 months

As usual, I'm a bit behind. Technically she turned 16 months a week ago, but who's counting?

I know I'm not the best at keeping up with monthly updates, but I do what I can, when I can. As luck would have it, Abigail has been to the doctor's office a couple times recently, so I know exactly what she weighs, even though there wasn't a "well visit" involved. So, here are some of her physical stats:
Weight: 23lb 14oz (as of 2 weeks ago, but she's been eating as much as ME lately, so I'm sure she's over 24 by now)

Height: 30inches, I believe

Clothing size - 2T!!! Can you believe it!? :( She's out of infant clothes & into toddler sizes!!! Up until a few days ago she was still in 18 month size pants, because her upper half is bigger than her bottom half. But then BAM! This week all of a sudden all her pants are highwaters & don't button. So she's officially wearing 2T in everything.
Shoe size: 5.5 - this is awkward. Her feet just perfectly into size 5's, by perfetly I mean if she didn't have to walk in them it'd be perfect. Cause her heel touches the back & her big toe touches the front of the shoe. But size 6's are still a bit too big & awkward on her. So right now it's a daily struggle to find a pair of shoes that she can wear, since most baby shoes don't come in half sizes. So she's been wearing the same pair of shoes to daycare every day for about 2 weeks now & has 1 pair of outside shoes that fit her well too, with a stock pile of size 6's just waiting for her.

Ok moving on, let's talk about the fun stuff!

Words:
She's a big time copy cat & will repeat most of what we say, but these are the words she actually knows for herself, not just parroting mom & dad:
Abby - and can sorta say "Abigail" per Brandon. I haven't witnessed this for myself though
Apple/ Banana (nana)
Baby
Ball
Book
Clean up (nean up)
Kitty (titty)/ Puppy
Milk (mil)/ Juice (oose)
Mommy/Daddy/Nana/Dadoo/Papa/Uncle (unnle)
More
NO! (of course she's mastered this one)
Yep/Yeah
Bear (buhr)
Bunny
Cow (and she'll let you know a cow says "mooooo")
Cookie (cooookeee)/ Cracker
Duck
Elmo! (gotta love that she knows Elmo, but hasn't seen 1 episode of Sesame Street)
Fish (shish)
Hello (heyo) / bye-bye
Goodnight (night-night)
Outside (ou-side)

Poop

Stop/ Go!
Up/ Down (she tells Romie the cat to get down all the time if she doesn't like where Romie is sitting. So funny!)
Shoe! (She says this perfectly & is OBSESSED with shoes)/ Sock
Slide (side)
Turtle (this one is new as of last night - pronounced "tuh-ul")

I'm sure there are more, but these are the ones she says the most, that I can remember right now.

And then things she knows/understands:
  • Body parts - Abby will show you where her eyes, ears, nose, tongue, teeth, mouth, and belly are. She'll also point these parts out on you, if you ask her.
  • If we ask her "Where's Abby?" she'll pat herself on the chest. If you ask her, "Where's mommy/daddy/kitty" and so on, she'll point to the proper person/animal.
  • Abby's really good at finding an object in a book. If you ask her where something is in a picture book, she'll find it, no matter how tiny & point to it. She's currently obsessed with finding the puppy, the baby, and the bear in the book We're going on a Bear Hunt so we've had to hide the book from her & only take it out when we can handle 30 minutes of playing that game with her.
  • She sits down, stands up, dances, smiles on command. Follows basic instructions like "Abby go find a book." or "Abby go get your shoes and bring them to mommy"
  • She's been helping me cook. I sit her on the counter & show her what I'm doing. So far she's assisted with cupcakes, pigs in a blanket, meatloaf and breakfast casserole.
  • Teeth - oh man! She has so many teeth coming in at the same time, several that are partially through right now, and I can't even count how many there are. All I know is there is at least 4 molars and all 4 eye teeth all coming in at the same time, but I"ve also noticed other teeth as well. I think in a month from now she'll probably have a full set of teeth!
  • She can go down a slide by herself!
  • Last night, she was playing with some farm animals that she has, taking them out of their container & handing them to dad one-by-one. Once he had them all she announced, "Clean up!" and went to grab them back from him. We thought she'd do it one-by-one again, but I think it dawned on her that she could carry two at a time. So she took the duck from dad & then turned to him & put her free hand out and said, "Daddy...cow!" which was the animal he was holding. Very proud moment for us :)
I guess that's enough bragging for one day. Tomorrow is Brandon & I's 5 year wedding anniversary. We're going for a romantic getaway and my parents will be watching Abigail overnight. I'm SOOOO excited! And I'm slightly surprised at myself because I'm not worried or feeling the need to control every little detail of her time without me. I fully trust my parents and that they'll take good care of her and not worried about what Abby is eating or if she will sleep well, etc. I can't wait!
