But for now I will ignore it, because she's not a 1.5 year old yet. She's only 17 months. So let's focus on the here & now.
Last weekend was full of activities, as usual for us. Here's a couple pictures from it. As you can see, Abby is SO sassy! She seriously is very bossy and stubborn. She gets that from her momma!

Yesterday was a rarely lovely April day in the Seattle area. So we took advantage and headed to the park.

| She refused to let go of her string cheese. |
Abby had fun on the "side". She cimbed up the steps by herself, and then slid down by herself, over & over & over again. Then we walked over to see the "ducks" that say "quack", which was really exciting & Abby let us know by saying "Wooow!!" And we got our first glimpse into what it will be like with her in Hawaii. She kept grabbing handfuls of sand & throwing it. At one point she let go a little too soon & actually threw the sand on her own head. Poor kid. Then a duck got a little too close & Abby ran after it, running into the lake and getting her feet wet. Of course, overprotective Daddy freaked out! So we left after that, with a wet, sandy toddler. But she had a darn good time!
So what else is new? Well...let's see, last night she said her first phrases. She had two, but for some reason I can only remember one of them right now. She said "You know what?" and also a couple variations of that - "I know it." "You know it!" I'm so proud of her!!! I really wish I could remember the other phrase she said. I feel like it was "let's go!" But I'm not sure if that counts as a phrase since it's only 2 words??
Other new words:
Jump
Monkey
Sup?
Nope
Wow!
Whoah!
I'm sure there are more that I can't think of right now, but those are her new faves. And yes, as you can see, we've been teaching our toddler slang before she can say most "real" words, but I guess that's just how we roll.
Otherwise not a lot has changed. She jumps now, she spins around when we do the "hokey pokey", she has a "cookie dance" that she does only when she is given a cookie...yes, really! She knows how to work the TV remote & how to tell if you just gave her a remote without batteries. She knows that a "nilla wafer" does not count as a cookie & if she has requested a cookie, and you hand her such sorry excuse? She throws it to the ground!
A few days ago she figured out how to climb up onto the couch by herself, and how to scoot off, facing forward, and land on her feet like a normal person, not back off like a little kid. So grown up of her!
She's become an expert at putting on my shoes and walking around the house. She thinks this is the funniest thing in the world. She bosses everyone around. The cat, daddy, her babies, even the other kids at daycare - even the OLDER kids at daycare! Seriously. She points at them with this stern finger & tells them what it's all about! And darn it, you'd better listen!
We got her a potty this month. It's a plastic frog potty with "eyes" which Abby points to. I hope that isn't going to warp her in some way - having a potty with eyeballs. But she's been using the potty twice a day. We're not TRYING to potty train her, just more getting her used to the idea of going in a potty instead of her diaper. She's pretty good about peeing when she gets up in the morning, and again before her bath. She doesn't seem to mind having a poopy diaper just yet, so I'm not even going to attempt to push things farther than what they are right now. I will probably get more serious about it when she turns 2.
Well I think that's about it for this month. Looking forward to our first real family vacation in a couple weeks! It's going to be an adventure handling a toddler on a 6 hour flight. We plan to drug her. Seriously. And I"m not ashaimed. I just hope it works!
