Baby seems to be doing great, everything is right on track. I'm now officially in my 2nd trimester, so we decided to "go public" with this exciting news!
I attempted to take a picture of Abigail as a way of announcing, here's how it went:
She looks like she is in a state of shock! Which actually, is kind of perfect.
Anyway, I'm going to try to keep track of my pregnancy on here, since I don't see having time/energy to fill out a pregnancy diary this time, as I did with Abby. My, how things change with a 2nd pregnancy...
I'm going to call these "Bumpdates" get it? So clever, I know...
How far along: 13 weeks.
How big is baby: It's a plum! And my uterus is the size of a canteloupe. Interesting, huh?
Total weight gain: Nothing yet, thanks to morning...cough...all day sickness.
Maternity clothes: I flat out gave up this morning. Forget it...we're public, trying to wear my normal pants unbuttoned isn't comfortable (they WILL NOT button. Not even close) so I just went ahead & embraced the maternity jeans. Still wearing normal shirts though. It's enough of a "bump" for people to think I've been eating too many carbs, but not to notice I'm actually pregnant. I hate this awkward stage of pregnancy!
Sleep: Not so good. Takes me 1-2 hours to get to sleep each night. I have some heartburn when I lay down & can't seem to get comfortable. It's slowly getting better though, because a month ago, I was waking up at 3am & unable to get back to sleep. So at least besides the hard part at bedtime & getting up 3x's a night to pee, it's an improvement.
Best moment of the week: Having the ultrasound, confirming baby is healthy & getting to TELL PEOPLE!
Food cravings: Not much yet. Mostly I'm eating what sounds good since I'm not feeling well 80% of the time. Which means lots of plain carbs, vegetales & fruit. This last week I've been craving green salads. Hitting up the salad bar at lunch a lot. Also, cheap mexican food sounds really good lately, no matter how sick I feel. Yet, I can't stand the thought of Chipotle, which used to be a staple in my diet.
Food aversions: This list could get really long, really quickly. Pretty much can't stand the thought or smell of any protein. I try to eat protein with lunch, because that's the time of day when I feel the best, but otherwise it's mostly a no-go. And otherwise, it can be anything. Anything with a smell. Which is why I eat lots of plain carbs, fruits & veggies :)
Symptoms: Sick & tired. Puking daily, at least once-a-day. Also, this last week I've had little bits of blood in my puke. The midwife says this is because so much barfing is causing a strain on my esophagus.
Movement: nothing yet.
Gender: Will find out next month, hopefully.
What I’m looking forward to: Morning sickness going away. please! please, please, please!
What I miss: For some reason, ever since I got pregnant I've been craving a bloody mary. I may order one in the hospital after giving birth :)
Next appt: September 13th
