Friday, we had an impromptu BBQ with Brandon's cousin. Abby really enjoys spending time with her cousin, Casey. Those kids are so cute playing together! We had a great time, yummy food, and best of all, we wore the kids out playing outside!
We gave the kids popsicles for dessert & next thing we knew, they were sitting next to each other eating bites at the exact same time. The cutest!!
Casey has a toy jeep that 1 year ago Abigail was terrified of. Oh what changes in a year! This year she was giggling the entire time as Casey toured her around the backyard. Eventually, Casey even let Abby drive! Watch out! Brandon was terrified of our tiny female driver! haha!
Abby had a great time driving! And she's not completely terrible at it, as I would expect her to be.
Saturday morning, we woke up and got to work right away. Abigail had a birthday party to attend at a Gymnastics School, then I had to do shopping for the company picnic, then we had a wedding to attend. Honestly, I don't know why we do this to ourselves every.single.weekend. Except, I really WANT to attend all these events for our friends & family & spend time with people, so I guess I do it to myself and while it's very hectic, I really enjoy how social we are.
Abby was surprisingly good at Gymnastics. Someone asked, "She must be in a gymnastics program?" Well, no, she's not. But I definitely need to get her in one. She loves all things gymnastics! She ran circles around the gym, jumped on a trampoline for the first time, tumbled, did summersaults, walked the balance beam by herself, and did some incredibly impressive moves on the uneven bars.
Saturday night, Brandon and I had a date night. We went to my friend's wedding on the waterfront in Edmonds. It was a beautiful day and I couldn't think of a better location/way to spend it! The kids did great with Nana & Dadoo, and we got to feel like a couple, not just parents for a few hours. So nice!
Sunday morning, I was up bright & early and got started grocery shopping for remaining picnic items at 7:30am. Yeah...if you ever want to go grocery shopping and ensure you'll have the store all to yourself, just go on a Sunday morning at 7:30 am. NOBODY was there. In fact, I had to go find someone who worked there to come check me out. I came home from the grocery store, chopped up onions, tomatoes, watermelon, etc. Packed up the car & left to set up for the picnic. I was out the door by 9:45 am. Brandon stayed home with the girls & would meet me at the picnic when it actually started - noon. The weather was perfect! We had a high of 85 degrees yesterday, and the picnic was under a shaded pavilion at a local marina. It was so beautiful, and everything went smoothly. We had a great turn out - 51 people (19 kids)! Abby had the BEST time playing in the water. She was adorable. There was a bully that looked like a precious little girl, but actually was a total brat & her mother was on her cell phone not paying any attention. I ended up having to mediate between the toddlers because the pink-clad bully kept taking every toy Abby had away from her! Poor Abigail! She tried to get away from the bully, but the girl just chased her and kept trying to take her toys! Parents - watch your kids! Teach them manners, Puh-lease!!!
We made it home by 4pm. At that point, we decided to just be lazy. The girls played together - yes together! Brooklyn things Abigail is the cat's meow and Abigail eats up every bit of her sister's adoration. Abigail put some pants on Brooklyn's head & announced, "here's your hat!" Brooklyn thought it was the coolest thing, because her big sister had put it on her head. If I had done that, I would bet you $100 Brooklyn would have screamed/cried! I love how these two are interacting already!
Now it's Monday & I have to survive the work week before we leave for vacation this weekend. Not that the work week is any easier than the weekend. I believe we have plans almost every evening this week. Tonight, Uncle David's coming over, tomorrow Brandon's golfing, Wednesday his mother comes over, Thursday & Friday we pack for the trip. I'm SO TIRED! AGH!!!!!!
