I'm sorry to say I don't have much news in the weight department. I'm stuck. These last 5 pounds are sitting, planted directly around my lower abdomin & they are refusing to go away. I've realized that there's just no other way - I MUST exercise. And coincidentally (or not - you don't accidentally spend $500 on something unless you plan to use it) BOB showed up on my doorstep last Thursday :) YAY! My knight in shining, light-reflective armor!
He is awesome in my opinion! Much better than anyone else's BOB. Why? Because he is mine & because he will keep my baby safe & secure while mommy works on removing the 5 pounds of lard from her waist. And eventhough BOB is made for jogging with, nobody warned me just how much harder running is when you are pushing a stroller!
So eventhough BOB, dependable man that he is, showed up on Thursday, B didn't get around to setting him up for me until Sunday. He took BOB & Abigail for a test run to the mailbox & back to make sure everything was safe & secure enough. He tried to run real fast so that my photo would be blurry. Sorry sucka! You're too slow!
So finally yesterday, after stepping on the scale & seeing the same number for the upteenth day in a row, I decided it was time. I picked up Abigail from daycare & it was nice & sunny out still. So we went home, got some milk in her, diaper change, and then we both changed clothes into our running gear. Yes, Abigail has running gear just like I do. Of course hers is not breathable Nike wear, hers is a full on snow suit type bunting given to her by her "Auntie Ed". And I am SO grateful to "Auntie Ed" for this fabulous gift! It is quite possibly the cutest wearable item that Abigail owns. She looks like the human form of a strawberry cupcake, and I would eat her if I wasn't trying to work this extra 5 pounds off. Needless to say, she was not a fan of the wardrobe change itself, but she dealt with it. I laid her down in her pack n' play so that I could get things together for our run & she totally had an "A Christmas Story" moment. You know, when Ralphy's little brother is stuffed into his red snowsuit & "can't put his arms down!!!" and falls in the snow & can't get back up! "I can't get up! I can't get up! Ralphy help me, I can't get uuuuup! WAHHHH!" Yeah, that was Abigail in her pack n' play. Rolling from side-to-side, but not able to do much more than that. Finally, I got everything together, put her in her carseat, as if she didn't feel trapped enough in her snowsuit, here I am stuffing her into a carseat with even more bunting. So she was a little less than impressed at first, but once we got a few steps out the door she seemed content.
We started off walking & I tried to get a handle on how to maneuver Bob. Then we were off! We went for 2 miles & let me tell ya, it is HARD jogging while pushing a stroller! And Abigail was wide awake the entire time staring me down like, "Come on mom, don't be a wimp!" But seriously, I never realized how much it helps when you run to move your arms. The end of our run was going up a steep hill & I thought I was going to die! But I'm still here, obviously, I did not perish, I lived to tell the story. And afterwards I felt great! We did it! Abigail & I went for a run together, she didn't mind it. We were lucky to have all the bunting because it was chilly & then with the wind from running it makes it even cooler, but she was the perfect temperature & completely content. So I think we'll probably do a couple runs each week together, and then I will go on a couple by myself. I am optimistic that with all this running these last 5 pounds will slowly but surely come off my middle. I am so glad I purchased BOB! He's such a wonderful new addition to our family!
