Me and you
And you and me
No matter how they toss the dice
It had to be
The only one for me is you
And you for me
So happy together
Abigail has been taking rice cereal for a few weeks now, with a long pause while she was sick for 2 weeks with a cold. Now that we've resumed cereal and she seems to be getting the hang of it, I thought it was time to break out the highchair. I got really excited Wednesday night & opened the box & pulled everything out. Then I realized something only a new parent doesn't know yet...it's a baby gear item. And all baby gear items require tremendous amounts of assembly. Tools are required just to get everything out of the packaging, and then you're left with 50 seperate parts that must be put together exactly 100% correct, tight enough, but not too tight. And if you mess up?
WARNING: COULD CAUSE SERIOUS BODILY INJURY TO YOUR FIRST BORN CHILD.
So I put what I could fit back into the box (like 3 pieces) and the rest (15 pieces - why does everything seem to expand x10 when you take it out of the box?) thrown into the office. Finally, after assembling Ikea furniture at work on Friday, I was feeling ambitious. I broke out the box & took about 5 trips from the office back to the living room to unload the rest of the highchair bits, then I sat down in the middle of my plastic bits circle and read the manual. Suprisingly, it was pretty simple to figure out. And I put the entire thing together, BY MYSELF, without 1 finger lifted on Brandon's part. I was so proud!! :)
Saturday, I fed Abigail her cereal and THEN put her in the highchair. I don't really know why I did it that way. For some reason I just didn't really want to get the new highchair dirty...yet, isn't that the point of a highchair? And why everything is made of plastic-coated, easy to clean materials?
Anyhoo...I documented the experience.
At first, Abigail wasn't too sure of things. She had to be buckled in to a 5-point harness & she HATES being buckled into her carseat. So this was not any better, in her opninion.
At first she had no idea what to do with the thing...
Then I helped things along by showing her the toy attachment that came with the highchair..
Oh! It makes noise!?
Then she figured it out for herself & decided that her new highchair is AWESOME!
