Abigail's half birthday weekend

Ok, so my kid is so stinkin cute! I know I'm biased, but seriously...we had the BEST weekend!

On Saturday, Abigail's "half birthday," we started the day like Christmas morning. We got Abigail up out of bed, dressed her up in a special birthday outfit, and had her gifts set out ready for her to open.
Mom & Dad got her a new blankie for her to play on (it's larger, so hopefully she'll actually stay on this blanket a little better), and a new stuffed animal named Ellie, the Elephant. She also had a special secret gift and card from her Great-Grandparents. We were good and did not peek.
Abigail LOVED her new gifts! It was so cute! First, we introduced her new blanket...ok whatever mom & dad...that's the practical gift. Then, we helped her open her card & gift from her great-grandparents. She loved the card, at least that's what we're assuming because she refused to let it go & kept trying to eat it. And she looked quite adorable in her new knit hat! It's a little big right now, but I'm sure she'll grow into it. Then, we gave her Ellie the Elephant and she had the best time entertaining herself! I think Ellie is her new best fwiend.

You see this card right here?

I'm gonna eat it!

Oh look, a new friend...a new BEST friend!

On Saturday we ran a bunch of errands, took Abigail shopping for some new clothes, and she actually managed to keep her cute ruffly outfit on for most of the day. Then, I made sweet potatoes & we re-introduced them to Abigail. I asked her what she thought of them & at first she wasn't sure what to think.

And then I said "Abigail, do you like sweet potatoes? And making giant messes with them?"

Oh, why yes she does! Ha! She managed to get the sweet potatoes EVERYwhere! And I mean everywhere! She had sweet potatoes on her eyelid, on her ear, on her toes! I tried wiping her down with a wet washcloth, but they were stuck on her like glue, so I went for the baby wipes and eventually got her cleaned up. We may have to make baths a daily occurance now - just one more thing to add to the nightly ritual. Oh boy! But she did well - as you can see by the empty bowl :) And I really enjoyed making her food for her - it was super easy & I love that I know exactly what she is eating and how it was prepared :)

Sunday, I had a girl's brunch, then we celebrated my dad's birthday and my parents came over, who are always spoiling Abigail so ridiculously, that we'd better have a 2nd kid ASAP or she'll be a snot for life! So they brought her some new books, some new outfits and a super fancy exersaucer! Abigail LOVES it! She immediately seemed to know what to do. She went in a circle and checked every single piece out. It's quite the contraption, so it was pretty impressive that she seemed to know what to do with everything. Of course, her favorite part is a lizard who sings "Red, Yellow, and Bluuuuue" like the Beattle's. We're already annoyed by him...and it's Abigail's most favorite feature, sigh.

And yes, she tried to put everything in her mouth...including the lizard that is the size of her head.
I can't believe she's already been here for half a year. She just keeps getting more & more fun and I'm so amazed by how smart she is! This was an awesome weekend!
